Import from Google Forms
On the Forms page, click Import from Google Forms. The form opens in the builder as a new form, ready to edit. There are two ways to say which form:
- Paste its link. Open your form in Google Forms and copy the link from the address bar (it looks like
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/.../edit), paste it and click Sign in and import. The link people fill in (it ends in/viewform) does not work. - Choose from your forms. Click Choose from my forms, sign in to Google and pick the form in the list Google shows.
Use the Google account that owns the form, or one it is shared with. We read only that one form, once, in your browser. Nothing of your Google account is sent to our servers or kept, and nothing is changed in Google Forms.
What comes over
Section titled “What comes over”| In Google Forms | Here |
|---|---|
| Short answer | Text |
| Paragraph | Long text |
| Multiple choice | Radio buttons |
| Checkboxes | Multi-select |
| Dropdown | Dropdown |
| Linear scale and Rating | Radio buttons with the numbers (the labels of the two ends go under the question) |
| File upload | File upload, with the kinds of file, the number of files and the size you set there |
| Section title and description, and text | A paragraph with the words in bold and the description under it |
| The title, the description and which questions are required | The same |
Good to know:
- A choice named Other in Google comes as a plain choice called “Other”. It has no box to type in.
- A file upload that takes several files needs the plan that allows it (see Collect files from your respondents).
- A Google file upload makes people sign in to Google. Yours does not.
What does not come over
Section titled “What does not come over”- Questions with no field here yet, such as Date, Time and Grid. They come as a red card with the question and what it was. Delete the card or add another field in its place. You cannot publish the form while a red card is in it.
- Images and videos of the form. Add them again with an Image block.
- Rules that send people to another section, and the sections as pages. Use the rules in the Logic tab instead.
- Quiz points and correct answers.
When you land in the builder, a message lists what was left. The form is not saved until you save or publish it.
