Show a total
The Calculation widget is in the Widgets group of the Add Field panel. It shows a number that is worked out from the answers above it. The person filling in the form does not type it: it changes as they answer.
Write the formula
Section titled “Write the formula”In the widget’s settings, write the Formula with numbers, +, -, *, / and brackets. Type @ to use the answer to a question above, for example:
@Price * @Quantity * 1.1Any question above the widget can be used, and so can another Calculation. A question left empty counts as 0. The arithmetic is exact in decimals, so 19.99 * 3 is 59.97.
You can also choose, with a condition (@Subtotal > 100 ? @Subtotal * 0.9 : @Subtotal), a comparison of text (@Size == "Small" ? 25 : 30), or a list (pick(@Size, "Small", 25, "Medium", 30, "Large", 35)). A division by zero leaves the total empty. The total is also left empty when its absolute value is 1,000,000,000,000,000 or more.
How it looks
Section titled “How it looks”- Decimals: how many digits after the point. Empty keeps as many as the number needs.
- Before and After: text around the total, like
$orkg.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- The total is worked out again when the form is sent, so it cannot be changed by anyone filling in the form. The number you get in emails, integrations and the responses is the one the server worked out.
- You can use the total in a rule (for example, show a question only if the total is more than 100) and in an email with
@. - A form is not published while a formula is empty, cannot be read, or uses a question that is not above it or is not a number.
