Show or hide questions
A rule lets one question depend on the answers above it. For example, ask for a company name only when someone says they are a business.
-
Open the Logic tab.
Click the question you want to change and open Logic.
-
Choose a rule.
- Show only if shows the question when the rule is true, and hides it when it is not.
- Hide if hides the question when the rule is true, and shows it when it is not.
- Require if asks for an answer only when the rule is true. A question that is already required stays required.
-
Say when it applies.
Pick a question above, how to compare its answer, and what to compare it with. Add more conditions if you need them and choose whether all of them or any of them must be true. A rule can have up to 10 conditions.
How an answer can be compared
Section titled “How an answer can be compared”| Question | You can say |
|---|---|
| Text, email | is, is not, contains, is answered, is not answered |
| Choice | is, is not, is answered, is not answered |
| Several choices (multi-select) | includes, does not include, is answered, is not answered |
| Number | is, is not, is more than, is less than, is answered, is not answered |
To compare with the answer to another question instead of fixed words, choose Use the answer to another question next to the value.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- A rule can only look at questions above the one it belongs to. If there is no question above yet, the Logic tab says so.
- A question that is hidden is not asked, so it cannot be required, and an answer sent for it is dropped.
- The rules are checked on our server too, so they also hold for your own HTML form.
- Conditional logic is on every plan.
